DEADPOOL 3 – Ryan Reynolds Teases X-Force and Says Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Is “Something Completely New”

Ryan Reynolds continues to tease Deadpool 3 and is getting fans excited about what that movie will entail. There’s especially a lot of excitement surrounding Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and in a recent interview with ET Canada, Reynolds teased that this version of Wolverine is “something completely new to play.” He said:

“It’s been fun. He and I are both really excited. We’ve wanted to do this for a decade. So, to have this opportunity now is, I think actually weirdly, the perfect time.”

During the interview, Reynolds is asked about what he told Jackman to convince him to jump on board the project and he said:

“I mean, I never stopped. I was just pestering him like a gnat over the last many years. I actually just think… I believe in timing … and I think he was ready.”

Reynolds went on to talk about the pitch and how this version of Wolverine will be different:

“I think he was excited and what we pitched him was enough of a divergence from the character that he knows and the character that he’s left behind, that it gives him something completely new to play and something that he’s really excited to do.”

It’ll be interesting to see what is so different about the version of Wolverine that we’ll see in this movie! Jackman previously talked about the Wolverine in the film, describing his return as a “dual role”, and it will be cool to see what exactly that means.

Reynolds also took to Twitter where he teased the possible return of X-Force, which were the characters introduced in Deadpool 2. He shared a photo of the X-Force team along with the caption: “X will live forever!”

The movie is being directed by Shawn Levy, who previously teased the R-rated violence and foulness of the film, saying: “We are writing, rewriting, developing, prepping Deadpool every day now. It is such a blast to laugh every day. It is so delicious to hear and write and come up with these scenes where people are just talking foul. And the violence is in your face and hardcore, and it’s very much a Deadpool movie.”

It’s also been revealed that Wolverine and Deadpool are not going to get along in the movie. Wolverine hates Deadpool, and Jackman previously talked about that, saying: “How do I categorize it? Ten being really close, zero being the reality, we’re zero, we’re opposites, hate each other. I’m just talking from my perspective, [Logan’s] frustrated by him, wants to be a million miles away from him or wants to punch him in the head. Unfortunately, he can’t be a million miles away from him in this movie, so I’m probably going to punch him in the head a lot.”

Reynolds also previously shared some information on a Deadpool and Wolverine plot that was being planned before Disney bought Fox. It “was gonna be a road trip between Deadpool and Logan. Rashomon style. For real.” I hope they still plan on that!

For those of you not familiar with what a Rashomon-style story is, it’s where the same event is recounted by several characters, and the stories differ in ways that are impossible to reconcile. It shows that two or more people can view the same event quite differently.

Deadpool 3 is scheduled for a November 8, 2024 release.
