Eugene Levy Says That When the Right Idea Presents Itself, He’d Love to Return to SCHITT’S CREEK

I came to Schitt’s Creek late in the game, just after the series had ended, and had swept the 2020 Emmys, winning the most awards that night of any show nominated. It took me several episodes to get into it, but once I did, I absolutely loved it, and have gone back to rewatch several times over. It’s such a comfort series, and I love the characters so much.

Once the series ended, after its six-season run, fans were quick to ask if we could ever count on it returning. While the ending was planned and perfectly executed, the show’s diehard fans would love to see its return, and check up on the Rose family and the inhabitants of Schitt’s Creek. The creators, Dan Levy, who played David Rose, and his real-life and onscreen dad, Eugene Levy, were ready for a break after working on the show for five years, but Eugene says that one day, under the right circumstances, they would be happy to revisit.

Levy told Radio Times, “never say never,” when asked about revisiting the Rose family. He went on:

“I know my son Daniel has said this, we’d love to get together with these people again and take the show and the characters to yet another level. There’s nothing in the works right now to be honest, but you know, we’ve never stopped thinking about what might happen down the line. We’re certainly open to anything, I think when the idea that is the right idea presents itself we’ll probably act on, I guess.”

Levy also said that he misses the cast, and added:

“It was a great production, mostly everybody was on the show for all six years. It was really just such a delightful show to do. The fact that I’m working with my son and daughter, it was kind of a gift to fatherhood I guess. I thought it was hitting on all cylinders pretty much from the first season right through to our last.”

Schitt’s Creek also starred Catherine O’Hara as Moira Rose and Annie Murphy as Alexis Rose. Other regular actors in the cast included Jennifer Robertson, Emily Hampshire, Tim Rozon, Chris Elliott, Dustin Milligan, Sarah Levy, John Hemphill, Karen Robinson, and Rizwan Manji.

I will be so happy when this finally happens! Until then, you can find all six seasons of Schitt’s Creek on Hulu.
