SAVED BY THE BELL Stars Say There Have Been Recent Talks of a Reunion or Revival

If you were anything like me as a kid, you probably spent every Saturday morning — and years of syndication — watching Saved By The Bell. The series had zero continuity, some troubling underlying themes (watch the hilarious YouTube series Zack Morris is Trash), and the worst weird, fake, ‘90s muzak in the world, but we loved it! And if they were to do a reunion, or especially a reboot, fans would go crazy!

So this news is pretty exciting, but the actors are keeping us in check too, so keep that in mind. At the recent Fan-Expo Canada, Saved By The Bell stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, and Elizabeth Berkley were in attendance and were asked by a fan if there was anything Saved By The Bell in the works. The stars responded:

Lopez: “Obviously we couldn’t be in high school still, so you’d have to be creative with the premise. But it’s fun to think about. And who knows? You never say never.”

Gosselaar: “There’s talks, there’s always talks. I just heard recently there’s talks.”

Berkley nodded, and said any follow-up series would have to be right.

Gosselaar: “We know about it. All three of us know about it, this person that’s going to tackle it. If something came up, I’m sure all of us would want to be on board in some capacity, so there’s that. But nothing has ever really come to us with legs that would make us kind of get on board.”

Lopez: “Not yet.”

Gosselaar: “Not yet, but we would like to. We’ve always talked about it.”

So there’s nothing official to report, but there have been recent talks, and they do know the person looking to take it on. So those are all steps in the right direction. I think it would be fun, even if it were just a limited thing. I am sure Tiffani Thiessen would be on board, as she is still friends with the group, and still on TV here and there. But I wonder if Dustin Diamond or Lark Voorhies would return. They both kind of fell off the map, and I have only heard weird and not so great rumors about both. I think it would be kind of sad without them though, as they were on the show all the way back in Jr. High when the series was called Good Morning, Miss Bliss, but I guess we would just have to see if they were up to it. It would also be awesome to have Dennis Haskins back as Mr. Belding.

Would you be excited to see a Saved By The Bell series again?
