Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland and The Big Sick’s Emily V. Gordon Creating Semi-Autobiographical Comedy Series For ABC

As Modern Family is wrapping up its run with its final season premiering next month, Sarah Hyland, who played the hilarious Haley Dunphy on the series, has a new project in the works for ABC that she will star in, in which she is collaborating with writer Emily V. Gordon.

Gordon co-wrote the hilarious Oscar-nominated romantic comedy The Big Sick with her husband, Kumail Nanjiani, a tale about how the two of them met and fell in love. This new collaboration with Hyland is hailed as a semi-autobiographical comedy, so it can be assumed that the topic may have something to do with the two women’s struggle with chronic illness. But no plot details have been confirmed at this point.

I am so down for this series! I love both these women, and I think this sounds fresh and exciting. Hyland will reportedly move right into this role once Modern Family wraps up the season, and I will be here for it. Does this sound like a series you’d enjoy?
