Henry Cavill is back as Superman ,and he is now in the process of planning out the future of the beloved superhero as the Man of Steel sequel is in the works at DC Studios. Cavill made his recent appearance as Superman in Black Adam, but it’s safe to say that it’s going to be a while before we see him again.
In the meantime, Cavill is talking about his return to Superman, and in a recent interview with Screen Rant he shared some of his vision for the character saying:
“There is so much in the way of conversations to be had. Obviously, I have a very close connection to the character. And there is something extraordinarily special about him; extraordinarily special about his capacity to give and to love. I don’t mean romantically; I mean his love for Earth and for the people who live here, and to make people feel powerful – to make people feel like Superman themselves.”
He went on to talk about what he’s aiming for, saying that he wants audiences to leave theaters feeling like they can fly:
“I have plenty of desires for this, of course, which will be discussed more in time. But the most important thing, which I will be aiming for, is for the audience to leave the cinema and to feel like they can fly, to feel like they can protect, and to feel like they want to give to everyone else. That would be my goal.”
I love that! During a previous interview, the actor shared his excitement about returning to the role and teased that the next story they tell will feature a “joyful Superman,” and that’s something that I’m incredibly excited about seeing. He said:
“The character means so much to me. It’s been five years now. I never gave up hope. It’s amazing to be here now talking about it again. There is such a bright future ahead for the character. I’m so excited to tell a story with an enormously joyful Superman.”
The future of Superman looks bright with Cavill back in the role! He’s going to dedicate himself to this character, and even left The Witcher series to put his focus and attention on it. We don’t know when we’ll see Cavil as Superman again, but the fans are excited about it, and I can’t wait to see what his next story will be!
