Hulu has released the first trailer for its reimagining of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser. The original 1987 Hellraiser really messed me up when I first saw it. I had never seen anything so horrific in my life when I watched that movie as a young teen. I was not prepared and I was not ready for what that movie delivered!
Anyway, this new Hellraiser film comes from director David Bruckner (The Night House, The Ritual), and it looks pretty damn horrific! I’m just curious to see what the fans of the original film think, especially with the new version of Pinhead played by Jamie Clayton. This trailer gives us our best look yet at Clayton as Pinhead and we also get to see an army of terrifying Cenobites.
In the new Hellraiser movie, “A young woman struggling with addiction comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension.”
Clive Barker is a producer on the film, which has been described as a “loyal, yet evolved re-imagining of Clive Barker’s 1987 horror classic.”
The ensemble cast includes Odessa A’zion (Fam, Grand Army), Jamie Clayton (Sense8), Adam Faison (Everything’s Gonna Be Okay), Drew Starkey (Outer Banks), Brandon Flynn (Ratched, 13 Reasons Why), Aoife Hinds (The Long Call, Normal People), Jason Liles (Stereoscope, Rampage), Yinka Olorunnife (The Transporter), Selina Lo (Boss Level), Zachary Hing (Halo), Kit Clarke (Leonardo), with Goran Visnjic (The Boys) and Hiam Abbass (Succession, Blade Runner 2049).
Hellraiser will debut in the U.S. exclusively on Hulu on October 7th as part of the streamer’s annual “Huluween” celebration.
