I’ve seen two trailers for Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever so far, and one of them has yet to be released to the public. The second trailer you haven’t seen is definitely better than the first one, and this looks like it’s going to be a fantastic and emotional sequel.
Continuing the story of Black Panther is kind of bittersweet as it’s happening without Chadwick Boseman, who sadly passed away. The film will see Boseman’s T’Challa killed off within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and someone else will take on the mantle of Black Panther, we just don’t know who that is yet. That’s going to be a big surprise.
Some people speculate that Letitia Wright’s character Shuri will be the new Black Panther, but I’m not so sure. Regardless, during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Wright talked about how she dedicated every scene to Boseman so that he would be “proud” of what they’d done. She also said that this film is a love letter to Boseman:
“I feel, for me, it’s a beautiful contribution to Chadwick’s legacy. I feel like it’s a love letter to him. I know every day that I went on set, I focused my energy on each scene to dedicate it to him. I wanted to dedicate excellence to this film so that he could be proud.”
That’s pretty cool to hear and I’m looking forward to seeing how the story for this sequel plays out. I have no doubt that it will honor Boseman in a very big way.
In the movie: “Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.”
We also know that the Wakandans will find themselves facing off with Namor the Sub Mariner (Tenoch Huerta) and his Aztec kingdom of Talocan.
We don’t really know any of the other big story details, but we’ll find out when the movie is released on November 11th, 2022.
