Lucasfilm Casts Manny Jacinto in the STAR WARS Series THE ACOLYTE

Lucasfilm has added actor Manny Jacinto (The Good Place) to the cast of the upcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte. He joins the previously announced cast of Amandla Stenberg, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Lee Jung-jae. According to the report Stenberg, Jacinto, and Lee will be the three main characters in the series.

The series is being developed by Leslye Headland who serves as director, writer, executive producer, and showrunner. It’s been explained that Headland has been working very closely with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy on this project making sure they bring in a diverse, A-list ensemble cast.

The series is described as “a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.” The High Republic is set 200 years before the Skywalker Saga begins.

The High Repbublic era has been explored in a series of books and comics. This era is the golden age of the Jedi, when the Jedi were at their strongest and the Sith were believed to have been eradicated from the galaxy. The term “acolyte” refers to individuals with Force abilities who learn from a more experienced Sith Lord.

It was also previously explained that the show “specifically explores the rise of the Dark Side in those final days of the High Republic era.” The series is also said to explore some major Sith characters from Star Wars Legends.

Whatever this series ends up being I just hope that it’s done well and that it tells a great Star Wars story.
