If you’re a fan of Kaiju films, I’ve got an awesome treat for you today! A trailer recently dropped for a lost 1967 monster film titled Space Monster Wangmagwi, which has never been released on physical or digital media. Well, the film has been found and it will finally get a release thanks to SRS Cinema, who picked up the North American rights to the film.
Sci-Fi Japan says that the movie is “the most sought after of obscure unreleased kaiju movies.” They go on to explain, “It was thought lost for decades until the Korean Film Archive recently held a few festival screenings in their home country.”
The film was directed by Gwon Hyeok-jin (The Swordsman), and it tells the story of the “arrival of a gigantic space creature named Wangmagwi (Big Devil) who plans to conquer the Earth. Landing in Korea, the alien goes on a rampage of destruction.”
