A super intense trailer has been released for the psychological thriller The Infernal Machine, starring Emmy-winner Guy Pearce (Memento, L.A. Confidential, Mildred Pierce). He is joined in the cast by Alice Eve, Jeremy Davies, and Alex Pettyfer. The film is written and directed by Andrew Hunt, who based it on The Hilly Earth Society, a story written by Louis Kornfeld and produced by Jonathan Mitchell for The Truth Podcast.
Here’s the synopsis:
“Guy Pearce stars in this psychological thriller of obsession and deceit. Bruce Cogburn (Pearce), a reclusive and controversial author of the famed book The Infernal Machine, is drawn out of hiding when he begins to receive endless letters from an obsessive fan. What ensues is a dangerous labyrinth as Bruce searches for the person behind the cryptic messages… forcing him to confront his past and ultimately revealing the truth behind The Infernal Machine.”
This looks like a crazy movie! It reminds me of John Lennon’s murderer, Mark David Chapman’s, obsession with the novel The Catcher in the Rye. It will be interesting to see how it parallels real life. Plus, Guy Pearce is such a great actor. I look forward to checking this movie out.
