Chris Rock Was Offered To Host The Academy Awards Next Year, Did They Expect Him To Say Yes?

After being slapped on TV by Will Smith with millions of people watching, Chris Rock confirms that he was asked to host the Academy Awards next year. Did the Academy really expect him to say yes? Obviously, he turned down the offer.

Rock made the public statement at Arizona Financial Theatre in downtown Phoenix recently and he also shared that he was also offered a Super Bowl commercial, but declined that as well.

Rock joked at the show that hosting the Oscars next year would be like asking Nicole Brown Simpson “to go back to the restaurant.” That joke references Nicole leaving a pair of eyeglasses at an Italian restaurant before she was murdered.

Rock also mentioned how a person could get famous for being a victim, and when talking about Smith, he Joked, “He’s bigger than me. The state of Nevada would not sanction a fight between me and Will Smith.”

When previously talking about being hit, Rock said, “I’m not a victim. Yeah, that shit hurt, motherfucker. But I shook that shit off and went to work the next day. I don’t go to the hospital for a paper cut.”

Rock has hosted the Oscar ceremony twice in 2005 and 2016. A lot has changed since then, especially in the world of comedy. It’s just not what it used to be because everyone is offended by everything now and when a comedian is put in the spotlight, there are always people out there waiting to find something from their past to tear them down.
