Last week is was announced that MGM was developing a Rocky and Creed spinoff film that would focus on Dolph Lundgren’s Ivan Drago and lorian Munteanu’s Viktor Drago titled Drago. Ivan Drago was introduced back into the franchise in Creed II which saw his son face off with Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis.
I actually liked the idea of exploring the Drago’s life in Russia in a spinoff. But, Rock star Sylvester Stallone is pissed! He’s definitely not happy and slams the project and producer Irwin Winkler in a recent Instagram post for “exploiting” the franchise he started back in 1976. He said:
Another Heartbreaker… Just found this out…ONCE AGAIN , this PATHETIC 94 year old PRODUCER and HIS MORONIC USELESS VULTURE CHILDREN, Charles And David , are once again picking clean THE BONES of another wonderful character I created without even telling me … I APOLOGIZE to the FANS , I never wanted ROCKY characters to be exploited by these parasites… By the way, I have nothing but respect for Dolph but I wish HE had told me what was going on behind my back.… Keep your REAL friends close.
He’s vary clear here about how he feels. I don’t blame him. This is his baby, I assumed that he was a part of this spinoff when it was first announced, but that’s obviously not the case. It’ll be interesting to see if this project actually ends up getting off the ground and if Stallone will fight it.
If Stallone isn’t involved, this movie shouldn’t be happening. What do you think about all this?
