MAX HEADROOM Series Reboot in Development at AMC with Original Star Matt Frewer

AMC is developing a series reboot of the classic ‘80s pop culture series Max Headroom and Matt Frewer is set to reprise his role as the world’s first artificial intelligence TV personality.

The series is coming from Halt and Catch Fire co-creator Christopher Cantwell, who is writing the adaptation and is attached as showrunner. It will be produced by Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah’s SpectreVision and All3Media.

Max Headroom was a staple of my childhood that was such a weird but fun character who is seared into my memory. The character was known for his biting commentary on a variety of topical issues, arrogant wit, stuttering, and glitchy pitch-shifting voice.

Max was introduced in the 1985 British cyberpunk TV movie Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future. He became an instant pop culture phenom and hosted a music-video show, appeared in ads for New Coke, showed up on the cover of Newsweek, and headline his own primetime series, and he even showed up in Back to the Future Part II in the Cafe ‘80s. He’s appeared in several other projects as well over the years.

I never thought I’d see Max Headroom back in action in a new series, but here we are! It’s happening and it should be a blast! What do you think about Max Headroom making a comeback in a series reboot?
