BLUE BEETLE Set Photos Offer First Look at Xolo Maridueña in Costume

Some photos from the set of DC’s upcoming film Blue Beetle have surfaced and they give us a first look at star Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai) wearing his Blue Beetle costume. The costume looks pretty much like what I’d expected it would look.

It’s always cool to see photos from the set for big movies like this. But, there’s still a lot of post-production and VFX work that needs to be done, and it will be interesting to see what the final film version of the suit will look like.

The story for the movie centers on Jamie Reyes, the alter ego of the Blue Beetle, a vigilante who has a scarab grafted onto his spine that gives him tremendous powers and the ability to emit blue energy.

Blue Beetle is being directed by Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) from a script written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Miss Bala). It also stars Bruna Marquezine as Penny, the female lead and love interest, Belissa Escobedo as Jamie’s younger sister, Milagros, as well as Harvey Guillén, and Susan Sarandon as the villain Victoria Kord.

The movie is set to be released in theaters on August 18th, 2023. If you’re a Blue Beetle fan, what do you think of the costume?
