Marvel’s WANDAVISION Series Will Be Half Classic Sitcom Half Epic MCU Spectacle

Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series looks and sounds like it’s going to be incredibly intriguing! Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany are set to return as Wanda and Vision. They will be joined by Kat Dennings and Randall Park as they reprise their respective MCU roles as the scientist Darcy from Thor and government agent Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man and the Wasp. There’s no word on how exactly they’ll fit into the story. Then there’s Kathryn Hahn who will be playing a nosey neighbor.

During the presentation for the series, it was explained that the series would be half classic sitcom and half epic MCU spectacle. While they didn’t have any footage to show, they tried to tease what they were trying to do with a video that they edited together. That video featured an odd mix of footage of the two characters from the previously released MCU movies, mixed together with footage from The Dick Van Dyke Show. The footage starts out fun and charming but ends up morphing into something dark and disturbing. It was really interesting to see!

This series is going to have a super weird and crazy tone. It was explained that the series would be unlike anything that Marvel has done before, and that it will be a “wacky, funny and huge epic.” Bettany went on to say:

“As the scripts keep rolling in that we get allowed to read, it is so funny and it just ends up being this huge epic. The writing’s so extraordinary, thank you very much.”

Matt Shakman (Fargo) is set to direct the six-episode series, which is expected to debut in Spring 2021. The events of this series will also end up affecting the rest of the MCU in a big way as it will tie directly into Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

It’ll be awesome to see how this turns out! What do you think about what’s been revealed for the series so far?
