The RESIDENT EVIL Movie Reboot is Still in The Works and The Director Says “It’s Super, Super Scary”

There’s a new Resident Evil movie in the works that will reboot the franchise. It was announced several months ago that Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down and The Strangers: Prey at Night) would be directing the film. Since that news came out, it was also reported that Netflix was developing a Resident Evil series, but this film will not be a part of that.

While talking to Screen Rant, Roberts briefly talked about the film he’s developing and says that it’s going to be “super, super scary” and more faithful to the games:

“We are in active development of that at the moment. I pitched them a take, and they really loved it. So, we are just gearing up on that as we speak, really. I’m in the office all the time there. So, yeah, it’s great. It’s gonna be super scary. It’s super, super scary. And it’s just getting back to the roots of the game. I think, at the moment, I’m not really allowed to say much more than that. But it’s gonna be a lot of fun.”

As a fan of the Resident Evil game franchise, I’m actually excited about seeing a film that will actually be more faithful to them. I enjoyed the first Resident Evil movie with Milla Jovovich, but after that the films just got worse and worse.

Hopefully this reboot delves into the psychological horror aspect of the franchise, builds tension, and scares the shit out of people. The other films were just built around silly over-the-top action sequences.
