We’ve been learning little bits about Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam over the past few years, but we still don’t know exactly what the story will entail. We’ve learned another new detail about the movie that you might be interested in, as Black Adam co-star Sarah Shahi revealed the character she’s playing and the villainous group she’s associated with.

While talking with The Hollywood Reporter about the movie, Shahi revealed, “I play a character named Adrianna, and she’s a freedom fighter that’s leading this big resistance against an evil, malicious group called Intergang.”

In the comics, Intergang is a world-wide crime syndicate connected to Apokolips. “Their leader is a brutal madman named Bruno “Ugly” Mannheim although he takes orders from Darkseid. This other-worldly connection supplies them with alien technology and weaponry to fight their enemies on Earth. They are heavily connected to the Religion of Crime and their laws are dictated by the Crime Bible.”

Intergang was created by Jack Kirby, and they first appeared in Superman’s 1970 comic Pal, Jimmy Olsen #133.

There’s no information on how Intergang will be incorporated in the story for the film or how they will connect with Black Adam. But Adrianna’s 52 story arc sees her become Black Adam’s wife and the superpowered character Isis. We’ll just have to wait and see how things end up playing out in the movie.

Johnson and Shahi will be joined in the film by Aldis Hodge (Underground, The Invisible Man) as Hawkman, Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I Love Before, Charlie’s Angels) as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell (Trinkets, Euphoria) as Cyclone, Pierce Brosnan (GoldenEye, Mamma Mia!) as Doctor Fate, Marwan Kenzari (The Old Guard, Aladdin), and Uli Latukefu (Young Rock) has been cast in an unspecified role.

Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise) is directing Black Adam, the most recent script of which was written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. Adam Sztykiel wrote the previous draft.

The movie will be released on July 29th, 2022.

How do you think Intergang will be incorporated into the story?
