Star Wars: The Old Republic is starting to celebrate its 10th anniversary later this year with the launch of the next expansion, Legacy of the Sith. The expansion is continuing the story as they try to uncover the plans of the renegade Sith, Darth Malgus, and will need to secure Manaan for their faction via military campaign. Once you complete the Manaan storyline, you’ll be able to use it as a new base of operations, complete with a new daily area.

The war between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire spreads to new worlds! Dangerous fringe groups rise in the dark corners of the galaxy and Darth Malgus pursues an unknown plan… Unravel these mysteries and more as your choices continue to shape the galaxy.

In addition, the game is introducing some other changes like Combat Styles. This will separate your Class Story from your gameplay style, and that has a lot of ramifications. For starters, it means there are a lot more ways to customize your character. In addition, Advanced Class options are now a bit freer as you can focus on abilities and not weapon preferences. You can now use your Trooper to wield a sniper rifle or a Sith Inquisitor can have a lightsaber in each hand. The official site even teases “secretly use Dark Side powers while posing as a member of the Jedi Order.” Players will be able to swap playstyles and gear as part of loadouts with a single click.

Players will also find the level cap has been raised to level 80. A new Flashpoint is being introduced as well on the planet Elom, and a new Operation is at the remains of a deep space research center. This is all done to kick off a year-long celebration of 10 years, so expect a lot more like “a completely new character creation experience, along with new looks for the character sheet, inventory, and much more” coming during the celebration. You can watch the entire announcement livestream for Legacy of the Sith below and the expansion will be available Holiday 2021 for free to all subscribers.
