Werewolves Within was an unexpected awesome surprise of a movie. I liked what I saw in the trailers, but horror comedies are a hard beast to pull off, and I wasn’t convinced this movie could do it. But boy, was I wrong!
Werewolves Within turned out to be so much damn fun! The film is based on the Ubisoft VR game of the same name and it’s a whodunnit murder mystery horror movie involving a werewolf.
The movie is set in a small town Beaverfield where a proposed pipeline creates divisions within the community. A snowstorm ends up trapping its residents together inside a local inn where they learn a murderer is on the loose. As they try to figure out what is going on, they find out that the murderer is a werewolf, so the question becomes… who in the group is the werewolf? A newly arrived forest ranger named Finn (Sam Richardson) and postal worker Cecily (Milana Vayntrub) must try to keep the peace and uncover the truth behind the mysterious creature that has begun terrorizing the community.
The small group of townsfolk are a mix of different types of people from the town and all the different kinds of personalities clashing together make for some amusing situations and great comedy.
I’ve gotta say, this is easily one of the best films that have been made that’s based on a video game! Director Josh Ruben (Scare Me) delivered a hilarious film that had me busting up laughing. It’s also a unique movie because it does something completely different than any other werewolf film that has ever been made.
The film stars Sam Richardson, Milana Vayntrub, Cheyenne Jackson, Michaela Watkins, Harvey Guillen, Michael Chernus, Sarah Burns, and George Basil. They all offered great and playful performances.
Werewolves Within is a great movie worth checking out. I had a blast watching the movie and I have to recommend that you watch it when you get the chance! The movie is 100% pure entertainment.
