INDIANA JONES 5 Might Use a Scrapped LAST CRUSADE Storyline Involving Indy Battling a Ghost

As you may have seen, some set photos from Indiana Jones 5 have surfaced. These set photos come from the film’s first shooting location in Northumberland, England at Bamburgh Castle. Well, this setting has led some fans to believe that Indiana Jones 5 might be using a storyline for a scrapped Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade script.

Den of Geek suggests that producer Steven Spielberg and director James Mangold might be taking that unused screenplay for the upcoming film’s opening. That original script was written by Chris Columbus, and it was titled Indiana Jones and the Monkey King.

The film starts out with Indiana Jones battling a Scottish ghost named Baron Seamus Seagrove II while he’s on vacation. This is the opening that fans speculate could be used in the upcoming Indiana Jones sequel.

In Columbus’s script, Indy is enjoying a fishing vacation when strange things start happening in a local village. This leads him to a haunted castle, described as “an enormous, 16th century stone structure. Tall, foreboding towers, lined with menacing gargoyles, pierce the night sky.” Apparently, the ghost has been murdering people.

This sounds like an episode of Scooby-Doo, but I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing Indiana Jones battling a ghost. It wouldn’t be the craziest thing that’s happened to him!

What do you think about all this? Do you think Spielberg and Mangold might actually use this idea for the film’s opening?
