Review: LEGO MASTERS Season 2 Has a Solid Start

LEGO Masters is back. The first episode of the second season aired this week on Fox and can now be watched on Hulu in case you missed it. Once again, we have 12 pairs competing for $100,000 and the title of LEGO Masters. Will Arnett returns to host and executive produce with Amy Corbett and Jamie Berard returning to judge the contestants. How does it compare though? You can watch new episodes of LEGO Masters on Fox every Tuesday at 8 PM ET/PT.

In short, the show is still a lot of fun to watch. I love the energy that Arnett and the judges bring as well as what the teams bring. I love watching the judges talk to the contestants and even provide some feedback, tips, and even reminders. Arnett is just so fun to watch as he talks to the groups. The builds are just as ambitious as ever and it’s great to see people come up with these ideas and try to execute them. Of course, in the premiere, a lot of people learned just how hard it can be to please the judges and how they might need to adjust some of their ambitious dreams.

One thing that is surely going to be a little intimidating is that the brothers Mark & Steven have actually competed against and beat season 1 winner Tyler before. That’s a very high bar that is sure to set expectations very high. That being said, in the premiere, we still don’t know too much about all of the contestants because there are so many pairs. We get a small snapshot of each of the teams, but we’ll get to learn about them more as the season progresses.

There aren’t any pairs that bother me yet which is a good sign. There are surely some that haven’t made an impression yet, but I’m excited to see which teams become my favorites. If you enjoyed the first season of LEGO Masters, the second season appears to be just as good.
