Netflix has released a great new trailer for its upcoming Icelandic/Scandanavian supernatural horror series titled Katla. The story centers on a subglacial volcano that awakens an ancient evil, so of course, strange, mysterious, and bad things start to happen.
In the story, “One year after the violent eruption of the subglacial volcano Katla, the peace and tranquility in the small town of Vik has been dramatically disturbed. As people evacuate the area, mysterious elements, that has been deeply frozen into the glacier from prehistoric times, starts to emerge from the melting ice and causes consequences no one could ever foresee.”
People who disappeared a year ago are now re-appearing covered in ash. I love stories like this where the mystery unfolds over the course of the season and I’ll be looking forward to watching this one.
The series was created by Baltasar Kormákur (The Deep, 2 Guns, Everest, The Oath, Adrift) and it stars Guðrún Eyfjörð, Íris Tanja Flygering, and Aliette Opheim. The series is set to premiere on Netflix on June 17th.
