BOOM! Studios has revealed a new five-part thriller comic series coming from writer Sarah Gailey (The Echo Wife) and artist Pius Bak (Firefly) called Eat the Rich. This new series follows a woman named Joey who learns about the “unspeakable horrors lying in wait within the perfect facade of the idyllic lives of the one percent.” The premise actually reminds me a little of what I heard about Get Out. Other members of the creative team include colorist Roman Titov and letterer Cardinal Rae.
Welcome to Crestfall Bluffs! With law school and her whole life ahead of her, Joey plans to spend the summer with her boyfriend Astor in his seemingly perfect hometown. It’s a chance to finally meet his family and childhood friends, all while enjoying a vacation where every need is attended to. But beneath the affluent perfection lies a dark, deadly rot… will Joey discover the truth before it’s too late, and even if she does, can she survive to tell the tale?
Talking about the series, Gailey said:
EAT THE RICH is about class inequality and the systems that allow the wealthy to feed on vulnerable people. It’s also a feverish love letter to the soapy primetime dramas I hold dear. This has been years in the making, and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with the world. Welcome to Crestfall Bluffs, friends. I hope you’re hungry.
Bak also shared his excitement for the project:

Eat the Rich #1 will be available at local comic shops and digital outlets this August. The main cover is by Kevin Tong and variant covers will be available from Becca Carey, Jenny Frison, and Leila del Duca.
