Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard has signed on to direct a feature film adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s (The Walking Dead, Invincible) comic book Hardcore, which he created with Marc Silvestri (Cyber Force, Rise of the Magi).

Hardcore is an action/sci-fi thriller that follows “a soldier’s journey as he saves the world without getting his hands dirty.” Here’s a more detailed story description from the comic:

Imagine being able to take over the body of anyone on Earth. Sound crazy? Not for Agent Drake and the Hardcore Program. They can turn any person into a human drone to get to targets that normal soldiers can’t. Drake is the best soldier Hardcore has to offer. But when he gets stranded in a body with only 72 hours to discover who’s hijacked the Program, he’ll have to pull out all the stops against an enemy who could be literally anyone.

Wingard is not only directing the film, but also co-writing with Will Simmons, who wrote reboots for Sleepy Hollow and Internal Affairs. He also has adapted Day Men for Universal and Boom Studios.

Wingard is also currently developing a ThunderCats film and a sequel to Face/Off. The filmmaker is keeping himself busy. Hopefully, these new film projects end up being better than his more recent projects. Hardcore definitely sounds like it could be a cool flick!
