The Walking Dead is a world full of many characters and storylines that are branching off and interweaving. Many times when we see a character depart the series, we can count on seeing them again. That is, unless they have been eaten by a horde of walkers. So fans are holding out hope that we will see Michonne again in the future of the franchise, as she left setting out to find Rick after learning of his survival.

In a recent interview with ComicBook, series chief content officer Scott Gimple said that we have not seen the last of the series’ power couple, affectionately called “Richonne.” Rick (Andrew Lincoln) was famously presumed missing by his group after being hurt then captured by the Civic Republic Military helicopter that took him to a new unknown location. Then, after several seasons, his partner Michonne (Danai Gurira) has set out to look for him. We are promised to know the aftermath of Rick’s story when his follow-up films hit the big screen. Gimple said of the status of the films, “We are still working on the movie. It is proceeding.”

Gimple teased that viewers “should pay attention to the way that Michonne left the show,” referring to the “caravan of migrants that she falls in with at the close of Gurira’s exit episode.” After discovering evidence that Rick survived the bridge, Michonne helps a pair of strangers, Aiden (Breeda Wool) and Bailey (Andrew Bachelor), as she heads north in search of answers to bring “the Brave Man” back home.

Gimple added, “There’s something going on there. Yeah, King Bach was there. I’m very grateful to him. We probably haven’t seen the end of him either,” Gimple said, referring to Bachelor. “It was King Bach for a reason. But that was a pretty big group she was with.”

The schedule of the series and films in the franchise were definitely affected by the pandemic, and so no official dates have been set for the first movie, or its follow-ups, but Gimple assures that things are back on track, and we have a lot to look forward to.
