I’ve got a trailer here for a little indie horror film titled Backwoods. The film tells the dark story of an urban legend known as The Hangman, a deformed zealot said to hang any male trespassers and keep the women as his brides.
The story centers on high school cheerleader Molly (Isabella Alberti) who wakes up bound and gagged in the trunk of her boyfriend’s car. “That was the high point of her night. After escaping and fleeing into the nearby forest, she comes face-to-face with the town urban legend: The Hangman, a deformed zealot said to lynch male trespassers and keep the women as “brides”. Now, Molly, along with her best friend and would-be rescuer Noah (Michael Anthony Bagozzi) must try to work together to avoid becoming his latest victims.”
The film comes from director Thomas Smith and it also stars Jeremy Sande, Tahj Vaughans, Erin Liley, and Scott Alan Warner. This looks like yet another slasher film that doesn’t do anything different or original. But, as you’ll see in the trailer, they have high hope of making this monstrous killer a new horror icon. Kamikaze Dogfight will release Backwoods direct-to-VOD in the US starting December 1st.
