THE HOUSE DOESN’T ALWAYS WIN Sounds Like a Great New Tabletop RPG

I recently found out about a new tabletop RPG that sounds like a fantastic experience. The House Doesn’t Always Win features a brand new RPG system built from the ground up by Michael Whelan that revolves around a single deck of cards. The idea is that players will need to know when to push their luck and when not to in order to survive and meet their goals. A great thing about this system is that it has no official setting. That means that you can easily create a story that fits any genre you enjoy playing in.

I’m really interested since it claims to be a zero-prep game with fast setup. It’s advertised as being great for one-shots or even longer narrative campaigns which definitely peak my interest, especially after the amazing experience I had playing Alice is Missing which is a system built for one-shots.

The game sounds like it could be absolutely incredible and it’s already funded on Kickstarter. The project is still running for over 20 days if you want to back it with plenty of stretch goals to reach for.
