Vince Vaughn has brought us some great performances in movies that have lived on as classics, like Dodgeball, Swingers, Old School, and Weddings Crashers. These are all great comedies that easily could have been made into sequels with built-in fanbases, but none of them were pursued, until now.

In a recent interview with Cinema Blend’s ReelBlend, Vaughn chatted about the fact that he has no sequels on his roster, saying that he would rather go work on a new interesting project than tread on an old one, but is always open to good story ideas. He said he loves the character he played in Dodgeball, and loves the people he made that movie with, but doesn’t want to make a movie that just retells the same story from the first film.

It seems that Vaughn’s streak of saying no to sequels may be coming to an end though, as he explained:

“David Dobkin had a really good idea that’s contemporary. I never went and made a sequel to a lot of these films at the time because it felt like we were just chasing a success. But what I like about where Crashers could potentially be at is [that] there’s something that is of this moment that feels really good… a lot of these comedies, even something like Wedding Crashers, you’re sort of investigating things that I think are real in our lives, but the comedy is an overcommitment to the absurd.”

The first Wedding Crashers came out in 2005, and starred Vaughn, Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Isla Fisher, Christopher Walken, Jane Seymour, Keir O’Donnell, and Bradley Cooper, as well as Will Ferrell. The hilarious cast pulled out awkward and unforgettable moments, and it would be a blast to see them back together again. Hopefully this is a storyline that brings everyone back, and is just as funny as the first.
