As you know, there were a ton of complaints regarding the how dark the The Battle of Winterfell was in the Game of Thrones episode “The Long Night.” While a few people thought it was fine, the majority of fans were pretty upset by the choice to shoot it so dark.

The cinematographer of the episode recently talked about the choice to shoot the episode dark and blamed the viewers for not known how to properly adjust their TV picture. Personally, I think they should have shot the this episode in a way that the viewers would have been able to enjoy it at home, but they shot it in a way where you need to watch it in a movie theater to get the full effect. At least, that’s how the cinematographer explained it.

A fan went ahead and took one of the darkest scenes from the episode and brightened it up to show us what it would have looked like if we could actually see what was happening. Funny thing is, as I was watching it, I was like, “Oh! so that’s who those characters were!” You definitely get a much clearer view of what is happening in this battle. It’s kind of laughable about how much stuff I couldn’t see when I initially watched the episode.

The video offers a side-by-side comparison showing the brightened scene and the regular dark way that it was presented. Check it out and tell us what you think!
