Karen Gillan is set to star in an upcoming satirical sci-fi thriller titled Duel in which she will play two roles. She will also star alongside Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad, Westworld), Beulah Koale (Thank You For Your Service), Martha Kelly (Spider-Man: Homecoming), and Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network).
Gillan plays a woman in the story who, after receiving a terminal diagnosis, “opts for a cloning procedure to ease her loss on her friends and family. When she makes a miraculous recovery, her attempts to have her clone decommissioned fail and lead to a court-mandated duel to the death.”
That certainly sounds like an interesting story! I love the concept as it has a Twilight Zone kinda vibe to it. The movie comes from writer and director Riley Stearns (Faults, The Art of Self Defense).
This is going to be a great role for Gillian to take on as it’s a different kind of character from anything else she’s done before. I’ve enjoyed all of the projects that she’s been a part of such as Doctor Who, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Jumanji. She also wrote, directed, and starred in The Party’s Just Beginning and will next be seen in Gunpowder Milkshake.
