So many movies that have been well-received by audiences have gone on to try and make a sequel. I’m sure that after a movie has gotten good reviews, and there are still stories to tell within that world, it’s a natural feeling for the creators of that story to wonder what comes next for their character(s). And in some cases, like Back to the Future, Toy Story, Indiana Jones, and so many more, they do it right, and the audience is happy to get more. But that’s not always the case. Many times, especially in kids movies it seems, we get some half-baked money grab that revisits the characters, but does nothing for the story.
Director James Gunn, who himself has a fantastic sequel under his belt with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, has tweeted out a list of the sequels he believes actually surpassed their originals in greatness.
