If you’re a fan of Tim Burton’s classic 1988 horror-comedy Beetlejuice, there’s a documentary coming that you’re gonna want to see! It’s titled Documentary For The Recently Deceased and it will tell the behind-the-scenes story of the making of the film! There’s no doubt it’s going to be filled with all kinds of fun information!

The film will cover all the aspects of the Beetlejuice production: from filming in East Corinth, Vermont, to the stop motion and special effects work, as well as a series of exclusive interviews and rare behind the scenes archives acquired by the director Fred China over the years.

The documentary will also feature never-before-seen archive footage, including stop-motion sequences digitized in 2K especially for the doc. There will also be interviews with the cast and crew, behind the scenes photos and videos of the cast and crew, and more.

The trailer itself offers up some great trivia that you’ll get a kick out of and it’s also crazy to see that the town they shot the movie in all those years ago really hasn’t changed at all after all these years.

Producer Lee Leshen offered the following statement:

French filmmaker Fred China has teamed up with producers Adam F. Goldberg (The Goldbergs, Schooled) and Lee Leshen (Back in Time, Ghostheads, Waldo on Weed) to make a documentary about the creation of the Tim Burton classic Beetlejuice, entitled The Documentary for the Recently Deceased: The Making of Beetlejuice. Julien Dumont serves as the film’s cinematographer.

The doc will cover all the aspects of the Beetlejuice production: from the filming in East Corinth, Vermont, to the stop motion and special effects work, and will include a series of exclusive interviews with cast and crew, as well as rare behind the scenes footage acquired by the production.

For more information on the doc, head over the Kickstarter or the official website right here. I like documentaries that tell us the behind-the-scenes stories for film and this is one that I’m definitely not going to miss!
