The first trailer has been shared for an upcoming new series titled When The Streetlights Go On. The coming-on-age murder mystery story is set in a small town in the summer of 1995. Chosen Jacobs (ItCastle Rock) plays a 15-year-old who discovers a pair of murder victims in the woods, and this evil crime will rock the small community.

Here’s the official description:

After the murder of a beautiful young girl rocks a suburban community, the victim’s sister and her high school peers must struggle to find a sense of normalcy while coming of age in the midst of the murder investigation.

The series feels like a Stephen King story, but it’s not. The series comes from director Rebecca Thomas (Stranger Things) and it also stars Mark DuplassTony HaleBeh AhlersSophie ThatcherSam StrikeDavid LewisQueen Latifah, and more.

There was actually another version of this series developed back in 2017 and the pilot episode premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. It was met with rave reviews, but nothing ever came of it. That initial script was written by Chris Hutton and Eddie O’Keefe and it ended up on the 2011 Black List of best unproduced screenplays. That version was set in the summer of 1983 instead of 1995.

The new series looks like something I’d enjoy watching. It will be available to watch on Quibi on April 6, 2020.
