LEGO is Temporarily Shutting Down Its Stores

Since we’ve been in self quarantine, my youngest daughter has been building LEGO sets. These sets are usually supposed to take a long time to complete so when she started building the 2,200+ Stranger Things Upside Down LEGO set, I thought there was a week’s worth of time killer for her. Well, she polished it off in only two days and now she wants another one!

Well, I won’t be picking one up from the LEGO store because they recently announced that they are closing their stores until March 27th in all countries except China, where there are reportedly no new local infections for the first time since this all began.

LEGO will continue to pay its employees during the shutdown, and their online store will still be open for people to purchase products, so I’ll be ordering my next set online. What will that next set be? The 1989 movie Batmobile!

LEGO released the following statement on Twitter:

“The health and safety of children and communities worldwide is our top priority.

We’re temporarily closing our stores until at least March 27 in all countries except China; our retail team will continue to be paid. Our online store on LEGO.com remains open.

One of our company values is caring. The way everyone is looking after each other is truly inspiring. We’re listening to you, and we take strength from the fact that play and learning can bring families together for moments of joy, even at the most uncertain times.

We will get through this together.

So please, stay safe, stay home and stay strong.”

Have any of you or your kids been building any LEGO sets since you’ve been in quarantine? If so, what sets are you working on!?
