Marvel Studios and director Chloe Zhao (Whale Rider) continue to fill the cast for The Eternals. According to The Wrap, Salma Hayek is joining the film project and will star opposite Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, and Ma Dong-seok (Train to Busan).
Angelina Jolie has also been linked to the project in the past, but she was not mentioned in this recent report so, I’m not sure if she is in or out. There’s also word that Keanu Reeves is in talks to take on a role in the film.
There are no details regarding who Hayek will be playing in the film, but that won’t stop the fans from speculating who it could be! Some of the characters who have been rumored to appear in the film include Karen, Hercules, Druig, Piper, Forgotten One, Ikaris, Makkari, Starfox, and Zuras.
The Eternals was created by the legendary Jack Kirby, and the story is set millions of years ago “when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans, creating the super-powered individuals as well as more villainous off-shoots known as the Deviants.” Those two groups went on to battle each other throughout history to see which would eventually become the ultimate race.
