Fans Will Soon Be Able to Purchase a Cool New Collectible Digivice

Digimon is currently seeing a bit of a revival with the new movies releasing over the past couple of years and the latest one, Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, releasing in Japan recently. Also, the series is celebrating 20 years. Well, apparently Premium Bandai has taken note and decided to launch a new collectible Digivice that features lights, recorded dialogues, and even two songs including “Butter-Fly” (the theme in the Japanese version).

The Digivice is pretty cool and is based on the original ones used in Digimon Adventures. However, it does feature a golden exterior and archaic writing around the screen. There are also some dark cracks in the digivice that make it really feel like some ancient item. Is Digimon hinting at an adventure in ancient Egypt where they’re going to play a children’s card game? While you may think I’m really crazy, keep in mind the simple fact that those who purchase the Digivice will receive a pack of cards for the upcoming Digimon Card Game launching in Japan in April (hopefully with a U.S. release not too long after). Coincidence? Probably. It is fun to create those fan theories though.

The Digivice will be available for the equivalent of roughly $75 (8,250 yen) before shipping and tax with pre-orders going until March 23. If you’re able to pre-order the device, it is expected to ship out in June.
