Did you know that there was a Star Wars character introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars that was inspired by the late Kobe Bryant? The character was a droid named K2-B4, a T-series tactical droid who served the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars.
K2-B4 was “assigned to a defense fleet within the Lola Sayu system, in orbit of her superior Commandant Osi Sobeck’s prison-planet, Lola Sayu, known for the Citadel that was wardened by the Phindian commander.”
The name of the droid, K2-B4, came from the production crew and it paid tribute to Bryant’s basketball jersey number… 24. Then you have the first initials of his first and last named implemented into the name as well. Also, the droid’s yellow and purple color scheme reflects that of the Los Angeles Lakers.
