OVERWATCH To Introduce New Mode for Testing Major Changes and Hero Pools for Competitive Play

In February, Overwatch is going to be getting quite a few changes. In a new developer update video, Jeff Kaplan has introduced some of these changes that are coming in Patch 1.45. The idea behind this update is that the Overwatch team wants to prioritize balancing the game and focus on the meta of the game. To address this, Kaplan revealed the Experimental Card which will allow players to test major changes to the game before it officially releases in standard game modes. This will include console and PC players since it will be part of the main Overwatch game. This means that you’ll still level up your account and get Loot Boxes in this game mode as well. It should be noted that Experimental Card is not for bugs and stability.

Another big change to the game are Hero Pools. Every week, the available heroes in Competitive Play will change. The available heroes will not be chosen by an algorithm of any kind, but rather by the design team. The idea is that this will change the meta of Overwatch on a weekly basis. Hero Pools will start with Season 21 and there is a possibility that it will not continue afterwards. This is another thing the team is wanting to experiment with.

What do you think of the changes that are on their way? Do you like Hero Pools?
