There are a lot of exciting movies to look forward to seeing in 2020. As I’ve looked through what is coming out, I’ve picked out 25 movies that I have a strong interest in seeing. I’m sure there are more that aren’t on my list that will be released that I end up loving. But as of right now, these are my most anticipated films. Look through the list and then share the films that you’re looking forward to seeing most.

Top Gun: Maverick – June 26, 2020 

After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete Mitchell is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him.

Tenet – July 17, 2020

We know that John David Washington’s character fakes his death to join an elite group of people who are trying to prevent World War III and there’s a whole trippy element to it in which things that happen or haven’t happened yet can be reverse-engineered in real-time?

Dune – December 18, 2020

Set on the planet Arrakis, we find ourselves exploring the story of two warring galactic royal families House Atreides and House Harkonnen. When Duke Leto Atreides is assassinated, his son Paul and wife Lady Jessica escape only to be adopted by the Fremen, who becomes Paul’s personal army against the Harkonnen as he develops powers from the spice, a substance that extends life and powers interstellar travel. A tangled web of royal intrigue is revealed with the Emperor and other cosmic powers pulling the strings while attempting to erase house Atreides.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife – July 10, 2020

When a single mother and her two children move to a new town, they soon discover that they have a connection to the original Ghostbusters and their grandfather’s secret legacy.

Bill and Ted Face The Music – August 21, 2020

Following 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, the stakes are higher than ever for William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (Winter) and Theodore “Ted” Logan (Reeves).  Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe.  Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.

Black Widow – May 1, 2020

Black Widow is set between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War and sees the character travel back to Budapest while she is on the run from the U.S. Government, which is hunting her down because of her actions in Civil War. While in Budapest she reunites with her “family” that consists of Red Guardian, Yelena Belova, and Melina, and they will “go back to where it all started” for a mission, which I assume is the place where the Black Widow program is at.

Eternals – November 6, 2020

The Eternals are a race of immortal aliens who were sent to Earth 35,000 years ago by the Celestials to protect humankind from the Deviants. “It’s about this group of incredible immortals, but through their journey, we really get to explore what it means to be human and humanity on our time on this planet.”

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It – September 10, 2020

Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren try to uncover the truth behind a murderer’s claim of demonic possession.

Onward – March 6, 2020

Two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, go on an journey to discover if there is still a little magic left out there in order to spend one last day with their father, who died when they were too young to remember him.

A Quiet Place 2 –  March 20, 2020 

The Abbott family must now face the terrors of the outside world as they fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.

Snake Eyes – October 16, 2020

The G.I. Joe spinoff follows Snake Eyes, “who while on the hunt for the man who murdered his father, travels to Japan and trains with the ancient Arashikage ninja clan.” The Arashikage “worked as shadowy assassins for generations, using deception to earn their keep as ninjas, as well as developing a reputation for being able to perform impossible tasks.”

Halloween Kills – October 16, 2020

Michael Meyers returns again to Terrorize Laurie Strode and her family. It will also see the return of several characters from the original film including the kids that Stode was babysitting on the night of the original attack.

Antlers – April 17th, 2020

In ANTLERS, a small-town Oregon teacher (Russell) and her brother, the local sheriff, discover that a young student is harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences.

Godzilla Vs. King Kong – November 20, 2020

Fearsome monsters Godzilla and King Kong square off in an epic battle for the ages, while humanity looks to wipe out both of the creatures and take back the planet once and for all.

The Kings Man – February 14, 2020

One man must race against time to stop history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds as they get together to plot a war that could wipe out millions of people and destroy humanity.

No Time To Die – April 8th, 2020

In No Time To Die, Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

The Many Saints of Newark – September 25, 2020

This is The Soprano’s prequel and the story will be set in the era of the Newark riots in the ‘60s. “That was a time when the African-Americans and the Italians of Newark were at each other’s throats, and amongst the gangsters of each group, those conflicts became especially lethal.”

Mulan – March 27, 2020

The New Mutants – April 3, 2020

Held in a secret facility against their will, five new mutants have to battle the dangers of their powers, as well as the sins of their past. They aren’t out to save the world — they’re just trying to save themselves.

Fast and Furious 9 –  May 22, 2020

We don’t know what the story will entail, but we know that the film is going to be loaded with epic action and fast cars!

Wonder Woman 1984 – June 5th, 2020

Wonder Woman squares off against the Cheetah, a villainess who possesses superhuman strength and agility.

Soul – June 19th, 2020

Soul introduces Joe Gardner, a middle-school band teacher whose true passion is playing jazz. In the film, just when Joe thinks his dream might be in reach, a single unexpected step sends him to a fantastical place where he’s is forced to think again about what it truly means to have soul. That’s where he meets and ultimately teams up with 22, a soul who doesn’t think life on Earth is all it’s cracked up to be.

Morbius – July 31, 2020

Morbius, a.k.a. Dr. Michael Morbius, is “a scientist who suffered from a rare blood disease and attempted to cure himself to disastrous results. Instead of being cured, he became afflicted with a condition that was a form of vampirism — the thirst for blood, along with fangs and super strength — and fought Spider-Man. Over time, however, he became a slightly heroic figure in his own right and even headlined his own comic book titles.”

Free Guy – July 3, 2020

The story follows a bank teller who “discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game and he decides to become the hero of his own story…one he rewrites himself. Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way…before it is too late.”

West Side Story – December 18, 2020

The Steven Spielberg-directed film is an adaptation of the classic Broadway musical, which “explores young love and tensions between rival gangs the Jets and the Sharks on the streets of 1957 New York.”
