Did you guys all get a chance to catch the incredible E.T. reunion short film, A Holiday Reunion, over the Thanksgiving holiday? It was so fantastic. It featured E.T., the beloved extra-terrestrial from the classic 1982 Steven Spielberg-directed movie, coming back to the modern-day earth and visiting his old friend Elliott, played by Henry Thomas, who reprised his role.
Elliott now has a family of his own, and his kids are able to teach E.T. a few things and have their own adventure with him before he has to go back to his own family again.
It was great to revisit the characters and story we all loved as kids, and even made me tear up, as E.T. just has that effect on me. I’ll include the short below in case you haven’t seen it yet, as well as this great behind-the-scenes featurette that was released that shows how the film was made. They talk about the practical effects that were used, as well as the CGI. They point out lots of fun Easter eggs and, of course, chat about the major theme of the film, nostalgia.
