HALLOWEEN KILLS Star Says the Film Is the “Nastiest” in the Franchise

Michael Meyers has been terrorizing audiences over the course of 40 years. Horror fans love the Halloween franchise, and they’ve all featured some pretty brutal elements and kills. But according to Halloween Kills star Robert Longstreet, this next film coming from director David Gordon Green is going to be the “nastiest” entry yet!

During a recent interview with Bloody Flicks, Longstreet, who plays Lonnie Elam in the film, was asked about it, and he said, “I don’t think I can say anything about Halloween Kills except it might be the nastiest of all of them. It has some terrifying scenes in it.”

That should get fans excited about what is to come. I’ve been curious to see how exactly this story would continue. The character Lonnie Elam was originally introduced in the original Halloween as a bully to the young Tommy Doyle, who Laurie Strode was babysitting on that fateful Halloween night.

The character was referenced in the last movie as a character who was no stranger to partying. Longstreet offered some information on Elam family saying:

“The Elam family is very unorthodox. They love drugs and alcohol more than most.[Director] David [Gordon Green] said a funny thing to me about that. He said ‘Lonnie knows his wines.’ I don’t think I’m a very appropriate father but I love my son. The stories of mushrooms with Ray continue.”

Jamie Lee Curtis is back in the role of Laurie Strode, and she is once again joined by Judy Greer and Andi Matichak who reprise their roles in the next two Halloween sequels. Michael Myers actors Nick Castle and James Jude Courtney will also come back to their shared role. The film also includes Kyle Richards returning as Lindsey Wallace; Anthony Michael as Tommy Doyle, and Nancy Stephens who will reprise her role as Nurse Marion.

When previously talking about the Curtis explained that these next two sequels are going to “unpack the first movie” and will examine the “cultural phenomenon of violence” as well as trauma.

“What I love that David and [co-writer] Danny [McBride] and company did is they connected the dots for forty years, now they’re going back to really unpack the first movie, bringing back all those characters whose lives were affected by what happened in 1978.

“The ass-kicking part is the fan-favorite part, but from my standpoint, I didn’t go into it because I got to kick Michael’s bottom. I was particularly drawn because it was a movie about trauma. We have horror movies that are horrific and we have these horrific events take place, but we leave the movie theater and then we complain that the dishwasher doesn’t work. The trauma that occurs for these character for forty years, I felt was very important that David understood that and was really giving Laurie great honor to acknowledge that her experience of her life was very challenged.”

She then added:

“And then kick his ass. And then you realize that it, in fact, was all like a spider’s web, but in order to go to the spider’s web, you also had to see the fragile person. And I was grateful that that was the angel. I think that if from the opening section I was kicking butt, it wouldn’t have had the emotional reaction that people actually had.”

Universal and Blumhouse will release Halloween Kills on October 16, 2020, and Halloween Ends follows one year later on October 15, 2021.
