Marvel’s ETERNALS Movie Is Rumored to Center Around the “War of Evolution”

I don’t know about you, but I’m incredibly curious about Marvel’s Eternals. I’m a fan of Jack Kirby’s comics and this film has serious potential to be mind-blowing. In all honesty, it kinda has to be mind-blowing and epic for it to be a true representation of Kirby’s work.

The Eternals are a race of immortal aliens who were sent to Earth 35,000 years ago by the Celestials to protect humankind from the Deviants. The director, Chloé Zhao, previously explained, “It’s about this group of incredible immortals, but through their journey, we really get to explore what it means to be human and humanity on our time on this planet.”

Not much else has really been revealed about the project other than the cast, which includes Angelina Jolie as Thena, Gemma Chan as Sersi, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Richard Madden as Icarus, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, and Kit Harrington as an archeologist named Dane Whitman.

Now, thanks to Marvel movie scooper Charles Murphy, we have some new rumored information for you to chew on. He says that he heard from his sources that the plot of Eternals will center around the “War of Evolution.”

The report goes on to point out that if this rumor is true, and the “War of Evolution” is truly the backbone of this movie’s plot, “it’s probably a pretty clear indicator that we are getting, at least in part, a film inspired by Jack Kirby’s original take on the characters and that it will feature the Deviants.” The Deviants are long-time war rivals of the Eternals, but their involvement has not previously been teased anywhere else.

When the Celestials came to Earth to perform a series of experiments with early man they produced three evolutionary branches that included the Eternals, the Deviants, and the Latents.

The film’s timeline is rumored to span over thousands of years, so it would make sense to see a story that would center around the Eternals and Deviants war and lead into an end-of-the-world/doomsday scenario when the Celestials come down to threaten the planet Earth.

This whole thing could also possibly include helping build an origin story for the mutants and pave a way for them to make their entrance into the MCU. We’ll just have to wait and see, but all the ingredients are there to make it happen if that’s what Marvel wanted to do.

The film has been in production for a couple of months now and not much has leaked out expect for some photos from the set showing some characters in costume.

What do you think about these latest rumors regarding Eternals? What would you like to see from the story?
