New Rumors Regarding The Villain in Marvel’s WANDAVISION Series and More

Thanks to Marvel scooper Charles Murphy, we have some new rumors to share with you regarding Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series WandaVision. These rumors involve who the villain might be and a few other details on what we might expect to see in the series.

Before we jump into those rumors, though, what we do know is that Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany are reprising their roles and that it will be “a mash-up between American sitcoms throughout the decades and Marvel films with these characters.” It’s also been explained that the story “snowballs into an epic Marvel movie that you’ve grown to know or love.”

There are so many really strange and exciting elements that the series will have and the story will tie into the events of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Now… on to the rumors!

According to the recent rumor, Nightmare has been cast and will be revealed as the main villain in WandaVision. Nightmare was previously rumored to be the villain of the Doctor Strange sequel because that’s who director Scott Derrickson said he wanted to use before it was even announced. Screenwriter C. Robert Cargill had also indicated that the sequel would probably feature the villain. So, the fact that this particular villain could be in a story connected to Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness would make sense. But, we’ll just have to wait and see. For those of you who don’t know, Nightmare is the ruler of the dream dimension.

It’s also reported that casting calls for the series seemed to indicate that WandaVision will “introduce Wanda and Vision’s twin sons, Tommy and Billy, and that they might grow up awfully fast during the sitcom portion of the show.”

The report speculates, “It seems entirely possible that the reason they exist and grow so fast is that they are part of a sort of dream-like reality in which Wanda has found herself, perhaps even at the mercy of Nightmare. Imagine how unhappy Wanda would be to awaken from reality where she’s been reunited with Vision and has been raising a family. Given everything she’s been through, one might imagine losing all that would be the tipping point for her, launching the MCU spectacle portion of WandaVision and, should that tipping point unleash some sort of large-scale use of her growing power, be reason enough to call Doctor Strange in to help.”

That certainly seems like a plausible story arc. It was previously reported that parts of the series might actually be filmed in front of a live studio audience. It’s explained that the series will pay homage to several multi-camera comedies throughout the years.

As we’ve seen in early promos that have been shared, the series will start off with a Leave It To Beaver themed episode. From what I’ve personally learned, the series will also feature sitcoms from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980, 1990s, and the 2000s.

I’ve heard that one will be a Bewitched themed episode and that there will even be a Modern Family themed episode. That should give you an example of what to expect from the series.

When previously talking about the show, director Matt Shakman (Game of Thrones, The Boys) said, “We can’t say much. It’s all pretty much on lockdown at this moment, but all we can say really is it’s a blend of classic sitcom and huge, epic Marvel action.”

The concept for the series was conceived by Kevin Feige, and WandaVision debuts on Disney+ in Spring 2021. What do you think about these latest rumors regarding Nightmare being the villain?
