Back in 1994, a weird ska band by the name of The Aquabats! was formed. They’re a very interesting group to watch and listen to. Well, in 2012, they launched The Aquabats! Super Show! which ran for 21 episodes. This weekend, fans are in for a treat as the entire series will be aired as part of a marathon on Shout! Factory TV. The Aquabats will also be hanging out with fans during the event to share trivia and tidbits. Plus, fans can get a look at props from the show.

Based on the superhero mythology of The Aquabats!, a real comedy rock band which series co-creator and lead singer Jacobs formed in 1994, The Aquabats! Super Show! follows the comic adventures of a fictionalized version of the band, a musical group of amateur superheroes, as they haphazardly defend the world from a variety of villains and monsters. Styled similarly to the campy aesthetics of 1960s and 1970s children’s television and Japanese tokusatsu, The Aquabats! Super Show! utilizes various mediums of visual styles and special effects, mixing live-action storylines with cartoon shorts, parody advertisements and musical interludes.

You can watch The Aquabats! Super Show! Super Marathon over on Shout! Factory starting at 9 AM PT on December 5 and runs all day.

Just ahead of its Thanksgiving Eve digital debut, ComingSoon.net got the chance to talk with Buddy Games co-writer/director/star Josh Duhamel and stars Dan Bakkedahl and Kevin Dillon to discuss their hilarious roles in Duhamel’s directorial debut. Our interview can be viewed in the player below!

In addition to Duhamel, the ensemble cast for the film includes Kevin Dillon (Entourage), Olivia Munn (The Predator; Love, Wedding, Repeat), Dan Bakkedahl (Space Force, Sword of Trust), James Roday (Psych, A Million Little Pieces), Dax Shepard (Bless This Mess, CHiPS) and Nick Swardson (The Wrong Missy, Grandma’s Boy).

Duhamel co-wrote the script with Bob Schwartz and Jude Weng (Fresh Off the Boat, Ghosted), with the latter also producing alongside Duhamel and Michael J. Luisi (Fighting With My Family, Killing Hasselhoff), while Jamie Elliott (Blood Brother, The Main Event) and Ralph E. Portillo (Armed Response, Fighting With My Family) are attached as co-producers and Richard Lowell (Rumble, The Marine) is executive producing.

Apple TV+ has given a straight to series order on a psychological thriller series, titled Surface, starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Belle, The Morning Show). The series is being written and executive-produced by Veronica West (Ugly Betty, High Fidelity) and will consist of eight episodes.

The series has not released a synopsis yet, but is slated to begin shooting next year. This is little info to go on, but I really like Mbatha-Raw, and I am looking forward to seeing her lead a new series. We will keep you updated when we hear more about Surface.

Amazon Prime Video has released a new trailer for their romantic movie Sylvie’s Love. The film stars Tessa Thompson (Creed, Thor: Ragnarok) and Nnamdi Asomugha (Crown Heights, When the Streetlights Go On), and the title of this trailer is “Right Love, Wrong Time.” This clip really sets the scene of the film, which takes place during the hot summer nights of 1957 New York.

The pair are joined in the cast by Eva Longoria, Aja Naomi King, Wendi Mclendon-Covey, and Jemima Kirke. The film was written and directed by Eugene Ashe. Here’s the synopsis:

Sylvie has a summer romance with a saxophonist who takes a summer job at her father’s record store in Harlem. When they reconnect years later, they discover that their feelings for each other have not faded with the years.

Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation, Safety Not Guaranteed, Happiest Season) has joined the cast of Guy Ritchie’s upcoming untitled action thriller, formerly known as Five Eyes.

Plaza will star opposite Jason Statham (Fast & Furious and Expendable series) in the film where “Statham will portray an agent recruited by the global intelligence alliance Five Eyes to track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapon that threatens to disrupt the world order. Reluctantly paired with a high-tech CIA expert, he sets off on a globe-trotting mission to infiltrate a billionaire arms broker.”

Ritchie will direct and produce from a screenplay written by Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies, with revisions by Ritchie. Plaza can next be seen in the comedy thriller Black Bear opposite Christopher Abbott, Sarah Gadon, Paola Lázaro, and Grantham Coleman. It is scheduled to be released on Dec. 4th.

Later this month, fans will be able to read Dune: House Atreides #3. This is the third chapter of the official comic book adaptation of the prequel to Frank Herbert’s popular sci-fi tale, Dune. The comic is written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson who wrote the prequel novel and features art by Dev Pramanik (Paradiso), colors by Alex Guimarães (Buffy: Every Generation), and letters by Ed Dukeshire (Once & Future).

The Planetologist Pardot Kynes ventures into the plains of Dune, and makes a destiny-altering discovery. Fans can read House Atreides #3 starting December 23 with physical copies available from local comic shops and digital copies through comiXology, Google Play, iBooks, and Madefire. The main cover for the issue comes from Michael Walsh with Rod Reis providing a variant cover.
