Aisha Tyler Set To Direct an Ireland-Set Psychological Thriller SILENT JOHN

Aisha Tyler (Archer, Criminal Minds, AXIS) is set to direct a new nightmarish psychological thriller set in Ireland titled Silent John.

In the movie, “a young couple comes to stay at a rustic B&B in Ireland in the weeks before their first child is born. At first charmed by their Irish host, they soon discover he and his mute groundskeeper share a viciously harrowing secret. Soon they cannot discern friend from foe, and their dream getaway becomes a nightmare they cannot escape. Fueled by the historic abuses of the Catholic church against unwed mothers, this socially conscious psychological thriller explores the unholy fanaticism of a man lost in the chasm between faith, the church and madness.”

Tyler said in a statement:

“I am thrilled to be working with the killer team at HEFG; their enthusiasm and passion for this project is energizing and it’s gratifying they share my vision for this story. SILENT JOHN is a terrifying portrait of institutional abuse and its lifelong effects on the psyche; I look forward to Roxanne’s creative producing intensity, along with my brilliant producing partners Emmett Hughes, John Doherty and David Jacobson, helping to bring this riveting film to life.”

Producer Roxanne Avent Taylor of Hidden Empire Film Group added:

“It is a privilege to collaborate with Aisha Tyler on our upcoming production, SILENT JOHN. Aisha is an incredibly talented filmmaker, producer and actress with a keen eye for storytelling. She is going to knock this out of the park and it’s exciting to be working side by side with such an empowering woman.”

The concept for Silent John was developed by Tyler, John Doherty and David Jacobson and the script was written by Emmett Hughes. Production is set to begin in Summer 2021 and will take place in County Galway, Ireland. Casting will begin soon.

WandaVision director addresses the fan theories for the last episode

Ahead of the highly-anticipated finale of WandaVision this coming Friday, director Matt Shakman has opened up about the many fan theories circulating regarding the Disney+ show’s upcoming ninth episode. Speaking with EW, Shakman reveals that he knows a lot of people who follow these theories will be disappointed but he hopes that they still find the WandaVision finale surprising and satisfying.

“I hope that they feel like the journey was satisfying for them,” Shakman said. “I know there are so many theories out there; there will be a lot of people who will no doubt be disappointed by one theory or another.”

He continued, “But we’re always telling this story about Wanda dealing with grief and learning how to accept that loss, and hopefully people will find that the finale is surprising but also satisfying and that it feels inevitable because it’s the same story they’ve been watching the whole time.”

In a separate interview with Comic Book, he also got the chance to address the popular aerospace engineer speculations, seemingly confirming that the mystery character’s identity won’t be revealed in the last episode and that it might not be Reed Richards.

I mean, certainly the amount of passion around the aerospace engineer certainly was one that was pretty great,” Shakman. “I mean, sure, it would’ve been great if Reed Richards had showed up in that room, that would have been pretty great.”

WandaVision will follow the story of Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany’s superhero characters Scarlet Witch and Vision. The series blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

Joining Olsen and Bettany are Kathryn Hahn as Agnes, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, who was introduced to audiences in Captain Marvel. Kat Dennings will reprise her role as Darcy from Thor and Thor: The Dark World, and Randall Park will reprise his role as Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man and The Wasp.

Hugh Grant and Sophia Lillis Join Dungeons & Dragons

Hugh Grant and Sophia Lillis join Dungeons & Dragons

Over the last several months, the Dungeons & Dragons reboot has managed to put together a cast of diverse talent that includes Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith and Regé-Jean Page. Character details have been slim, but at least now we know who’s playing the movie’s villain. Deadline is reporting that Hugh Grant has been cast as the primary antagonist in the film. Additionally, Sophia Lillis has joined the project as well, but the nature of her role remains a mystery.

Grant is coming off a Golden Globe-nominated performance in HBO’s The Undoing. He recently appeared in Netflix’s Death to 2020 special and also had a role in Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen. Lillis, meanwhile, is best known for her role as the young Beverly Marsh in both It films. Last year, she starred in Netflix’s I Am Not Okay With This, which was cancelled after one season. Some of her more recent film work includes Gretel & Hansel and Uncle Frank.

Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are directing Dungeons & Dragons and also wrote the latest draft of the script. Paramount is co-producing the movie alongside Hasbro/eOne. At this point, we still don’t know which parts of the D&D mythos will make their way into Goldstein and Daley’s film. However, we do know that eOne’s plans for the franchise stretch well beyond the big screen. Earlier this year, the studio tapped John Wick creator Derek Kolstad to spearhead his own Dungeons & Dragons TV series. Even more TV shows set in the D&D universe are also in development.

Dungeons & Dragons will hit theaters on May 27, 2022.

BLACK DESERT ONLINE Is 100% Free For A Limited Time!

d9509f1b8fa20200721083640003.jpg

The MMORPG Black Desert Online that boasts a huge world, beautiful graphics and fast combat is celebrating its 5th anniversary with a special gift. The game is free on mobile but is $10 on Steam and the price varies on consoles depending on the bundle and place you buy it. BUT NOW UNTIL MARCH 10TH the base game on Steam is FREE. I know it is only saving $10, but this game has so much to offer that it is kind of a “no brainer” to at least add it to your library now and play it later if you’re interested.

There are a number of bundles of in-game money that can be used in a variety of ways if players want to purchase those too. Pearl Abyss has announced some sales starting March 3rd and going till March 10th and maybe longer according to their blog. And so you might not get the whole experience in this “free” version, but you can try out the base version and maybe invest some more when the sales pop up starting March 3rd. I’ve enjoyed a lot of parts of the game, and I think it is a wonderful product that should be tried out by most gamers, and why not? It’s free!

Lastly, here are a few videos to get you started in the game, give you some direction and tips:

Alec Baldwin to Star in New Storm-Chasing Action Film SUPERCELL

Alec Baldwin is set to star in a new storm-chasing action film titled Supercell, which is being directed by Herbert James Winterstern (Siberia) from a script he wrote with Anna Elizabeth James.

Supercell centers on William, “a good-hearted teenager who always lived in hope of following in his father’s footsteps, the legendary storm chaser Bill Brody, killed by a massive super tornado. His father’s legacy has now been turned into a storm-chasing tourist business, managed by the greedy and reckless Zane Rogers (Baldwin), who is now using William as the main attraction to lead a group of unsuspecting adventurers deep into the eye of the most dangerous supercell ever seen.”

This sounds like something we might see in a sequel to Twister. Anyway, if it ends up looking like a decent film, I’ll check it out. The movie is supposed to shoot this year on location in Montana and Georgia.

The Los Angeles Riots Heist Thriller APRIL 29, 1992 Will Be Directed by Ariel Vromen

The Los Angeles riots thriller April 29, 1992 is moving forward with director Ariel Vromen, who previously Michael Shannon’s mob thriller The Iceman. The script for the upcoming film Sacha Penn (Creed 2).

The film takes place on the first night of the historic Los Angeles riots of 1992. The story centers on “a custodian who brings his son to work that evening, as the pair quickly find themselves in the middle of a heist gone wrong.”

Vromen said in a statement: “I love what Sacha Penn did with this script. To make a film set during the ‘92 LA riots felt so real and relevant 29 years later. I’m excited to tell this original heist tale that has great suspense and action sequences and that also delivers an important social message.

Penn added he’s a “huge fan of Ariel’s work. He has the ideal sensitivities and sensibilities to not only bring this story to life, but to also approach this subject matter in a way that is respectful and thoughtful.”

Producers want to release the film in 2022 to mark the 30th anniversary of the riots that rocked LA for nearly a week. The riots erupted following the acquittal of four LAPD officers for the use of excessive force in the arrest and beating of Rodney King. In the wake of the riots there were 63 deaths, more than 12,000 arrests, and over $1 billion in property damages for the city.

I didn’t live too far away from L.A. during these riots, and I have a vivid memory of standing in the front yard with my parents watching the smoke from all the fires rise up from the city. I also remember everything that was being shown on the news. It’s going to be weird and interesting seeing all that being recreated in this upcoming movie.
