Encino Man Sequel at Disney+

Encino Man recently celebrated its 29th anniversary, which led star Pauly Shore to call for a follow-up as he told fans to hit up Disney+ to tell them that “myself, Brendan [Fraser], and Sean [Astin] are ready for the sequel.” Now another star of the hit comedy is on board as Sean Astin has confirmed his interest and even gave an idea for what he’d like to see in a potential Encino Man sequel.

“I have always wanted to see a television series about Betty Nugs, who was the female cave person that was resurrected from the swimming pool at the end of the movie,” Astin told ComingSoon. “So I think it absolutely should happen. If they make a sequel, I’d be more than happy to play a part.”

Encino Man was directed by Les Mayfield in his directorial debut and premiered in 1992. Written by George Zaloom and Shawn Schepps, the movie revolves around two high school outcasts from Encino, Los Angeles, California, who discover a caveman frozen in a block of ice. After thawing him out, the teenagers introduce the caveman to modern life while he, in turn, teaches the teens about actually enjoying life.

The comedy film also starred Mariette Hartley and Richard Masur, along with Shore, Fraser, and Astin.
