Olivia Munn Says Apocalypse Team Knew Little About the X-Men

Olivia Munn says Apocalypse team knew little about the X-Men

While Dark Phoenix, the final installment of Fox’s X-Men films, failed to resonate with critics or audiences, the franchise’s problems didn’t start there. In a video for GQ (Via The Playlist), X-Men: Apocalypse star Olivia Munn, who played Psylocke, answered questions from fans, and dished about how little director Bryan Singer and writer Simon Kinberg knew about the characters’ comic book counterparts when making the 2016 film.

When I was doing X-Men, I was actually surprised that the director and the writer didn’t even know that Psylocke had a twin brother,” said Munn. “And I had to talk to them about a lot of different things about Psylocke and some other parts of the world that they didn’t even know, and that, as a fan, was very frustrating.

Granted, Singer helped launched the X-Men films back in 2000, paving the way for today’s superhero-saturated market, and both he and Kinberg have collaborated on several of the series’ high points — as well as some of its lesser entries. Regardless, the X-Men are all headed to the MCU at some point, which tends to flaunt its fondness for the comic books that inspired its characters and stories.

Awesome First Trailer For the WWI-Set KINGSMEN Film THE KINGS MAN

awesome-first-trailer-for-the-wwi-set-kingsmen-film-the-kings-man-social.jpg

The first trailer has dropped for director Matthew Vaughn’s The Kings Man. This is the Kingsmen prequel film that is set during World War I and it tells the story of the creation of the badass secret intelligence agency.

This is the brief synopsis that was that was released with the trailer:

As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them. Discover the origins of the very first independent intelligence agency.

I’ve enjoyed the Kingsmen films that have been made. They’ve been a blast to watch, but this sequel looks like it could end up being the best one in the franchise so far. I love what I’m seeing in this first trailer. I love the WWI setting, and the direction of the story. It’s also obviously going to have some super awesome action sequences. Then, of course, there’s the impressive cast!

The movie stars Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, with Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance.

The King’s Man is coming to theaters February 2020.

HBO’s LOS ESPOOKYS is the Show That You Didn’t Know You Were Missing

los espookys.jpeg

With all that is on TV and everything that is streaming, there is a vast array of shows that we are consuming on a daily basis. I found myself on at least three different platforms today. As disgusting as that was to type, it is the truth. I know I am not the only one who does this and that is fine. I also understand that fitting a new show into your daily routine causes what I call a Hunger Games for your shows. Which show stays in it’s allotted spot and what show gets bumped until further notice. Taking all that into consideration, I don’t make this recommendation lightly. My new favorite show is HBO’s Los Espookys.

The story follows Renaldo (no Y) and friends, who are obsessed with the horror genre and they try to set up a business doing spooky parties for all to enjoy. After throwing his sister a scary Quinceanera, Renaldo and his friends Ursula, Andres and Tati find their business is in high demand. The quirky characters are seamlessly folded into the real world by the writer and stars of the show Ana Fabrega (Tati) and Julio Torres (Andres). Minutes into the first 30 minute episode I was hooked.

This 6 episode comedic masterpiece is what the future of TV looks like. Produced by Lorne Michaels and Fred Armisen, the show is based in both Mexico and California. Is it a Mexican TV show? Is it an American TV show? No to both and that is what makes it so innovative and fun. There are subtitles throughout so no matter what your native tongue, you are covered.

The show also stars Fred Armisen as Renaldo’s Uncle Tico who is a valet in Los Angeles that “could park cars before he could talk”, and Carol Kane who is the Los Espookys crew’s favorite horror director. Every episode is a weekly treat and I am super bummed that the season is almost over. I need this show to get renewed for another season, I am not ready to give up these characters yet. Do yourselves a favor and check it out. Let us know what you think.

Zachary Levi Says Shazam, Black Adam Crossover Is A Few Movies Away

Zachary Levi says Shazam, Black Adam crossover is a few movies away

During a recent appearance at Germany’s CCXP Cologne convention, Zachary Levi was asked about when the highly-anticipated crossover between Shazam and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam will take place, revealing the epic showdown might not happen soon…

I can say that as far as I know, Black Adam is not going to be in the second Shazam!, because the idea is that they want to go and do a standalone Black Adam movie first,” Levi said (via Comic Book). “And then it would kind of be, if we do a third Shazam! and a second Black Adam, kind of [parallel] like that, that’s where we would [meet].

On why Warner Bros. Pictures had decided to do the crossover later into the franchise, Levi further explained, “Because he’s like the ultimate bad guy for Captain Marvel, Shazam. Like [Shazam and] Black Adam, they’re doppelgängers right, the evil twin to who I am. So that’s got to be like the final battle, If we do that in the second movie, then where do we go after that? It would just be a movie of us sitting around playing video games for the third one, that would be very boring. Or not [laughs]. I’m a very interesting video game player. So yeah, I think that’s the idea. We’ll definitely [cross over] — the plan is to get there, but just to pace it out however it needs to pace out.”

While Shazam! was largely self-contained, it did open a few doors for a sequel. For example. Billy Batson probably won’t be the only hero in the next movie. The mid-credits scene also introduced a bizarre villain directly from the comic books in Mr. Mind. Not to mention the constant references to the Justice League, including a (sort of) cameo by Superman himself.

There’s even an allusion to Black Adam early in the film, although not by name. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been attached to play Black Adam for years, though it seems like Warner Bros. is taking their time bringing the two on screen together.

Spider-Man: Far From Home Featured A Sneaky Mysterio Cameo

While Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio might have proven to be a rather subversive threat for Spider-Man to take on in his second (recent) solo outing, Far From Home. But the would-be villain’s alter-ego had a brief cameo earlier in the film, and no, it’s not the scene in Mexico.

Gyllenhaal revealed the “secret” cameo on his Instagram, which takes place after Peter Parker (Tom Holland) arrives in Europe with his classmates. Early on, Peter ducks out to buy a Black Dahlia necklace for MJ (Zendaya). Just before he enters the shop, you can spot Mysterio’s alter-ego, Quentin Beck, lurking in the background in full-on tourist regalia.

It’s not only a fun little Easter egg, but it also shows that Beck was playing the long game with Peter Parker, even before they “fought” side-by-side.

Spider-Man: Far From Home also stars Jacob Batalon as Ned, with Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, as well as Numan Acar (Aladdin) as Dimitri. MCU veterans Samuel L. Jackson (Captain Marvel) and Cobie Smulders will also appear as Nick Fury and Maria Hill, respectively.
