Visible: Out on Television trailer previews new Apple TV+ docuseries

Apple TV+ has released the official trailer for their upcoming 5-part documentary series titled Visible: Out on Television, featuring interviews from celebrities including Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Porter, Anderson Cooper and more as they talked about the evolution of the LGBTQ+ representation in television. Created by Emmy nominees Ryan White and Jessica Hargrave, the docuseries will be available for streaming on February 14. Check out the video in the player below!

Visible: Out on Television investigates the importance of TV as an intimate medium that has shaped the American conscience, and how the LGBTQ movement has shaped television. Combining archival footage with interviews with key players from the movement and the screen, the docuseries is narrated by Janet Mock, Margaret Cho, Asia Kate Dillon, Neil Patrick Harris and Lena Waithe.

Each hour-long episode will explore themes such as invisibility, homophobia, the evolution of the LGBTQ character, and coming out in the television industry. The docuseries features never-before-seen interviews with Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey, Anderson Cooper, Billy Porter, Rachel Maddow, Don Lemon, Sara Ramirez, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and dozens more.

Visible: Out on Television is directed and executive produced by Ryan White (Ask Dr. Ruth, The Case Against 8, The Keepers) The series is also executive produced by Jessica Hargrave, Wilson Cruz and Wanda Sykes.

Jennifer Aniston told press at the 2020 SAG Awards she always wanted to play Wonder Woman but ‘waited too long.’

As we all know by now, director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) has cast his primary characters in his upcoming film, The Batman. His choice to play Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, is Zoe Kravitz, known for her roles in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Big Little Lies, and the upcoming Hulu series High Fidelity.

The role has been famously played by Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry, and Anne Hathaway, who all played dark, strong, and brooding versions of the character. At a recent Television Critics Association panel for her upcoming Hulu series, Kravitz talked a bit about how she feels about the iconic comic book character, and Catwoman’s softer balance to the masculinity that Batman classically exudes:

“I think femininity means power and I think it’s a different kind of power than masculine power. That’s something I think is really interesting about the Batman and Catwoman. I think Batman represents a very masculine power and Catwoman represents very feminine power, slightly more complicated and softer too. I like the idea that you can be soft, you can be gentle and still be very powerful and still be very dangerous.”

She went on to talk about what drew her to the role:

“I think the whole Batman world has always been the most interesting to me. I think Catwoman is an iconic character. I was never into a lot of comic books but that world was always really intriguing to me. Then of course Michelle Pfeiffer, her performance has always been super inspiring to me. It just felt iconic. I think Catwoman, Selina Kyle represents really strong femininity and I’m excited to dive into that.”

And she also mentioned that she has tried on the cat suit:

“I have. That’s all I can say. That’s all I’m legally allowed to say. I really can’t say anything. I’m sorry. I’ll just get in trouble. She’s a great character. I’m very excited to play her. The script is wonderful, really grounded and deep. I can’t say more than that because I’ll get fired.”

Of course, of course. We wouldn’t expect to hear anything more at this point. I am really excited for this new Batman story, and I can’t wait to see what Reeves has in store. The film also stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Peter Sarsgaard, and Jayme Lawson.

The World According to Jeff Goldblum renewed for a second season at Disney+

Ahead of the docuseries’ first season finale this Friday, Disney+ has officially renewed National Geographic’s The World According to Jeff Goldblum for a 10-episode second season. Presented by Jurassic Park alum Jeff Goldblum, the first season will be ending with episode 1.12 titled “Jewelry” which will follow Goldblum as he learns all that glitters is ‘gold’ when he takes a shimmering journey to unveil the extravagant joy of Jewelry.

Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet gets early Season 2 renewal at Apple TV+

Apple TV+ has officially renewed its upcoming comedy series Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet for a second season. The renewal announcement comes ahead of the half-hour long sitcom’s debut next month which will be led by Rob McElhenney, who will also serve an executive producer along with long-time collaborator Charlie Day.

Co-created by McElhenney and Megan Ganz, Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet will follow the story of a team of video game developers as they navigate the challenges of running a popular video game. McElhenney is set to portray the role of Ian Grimm, who is being described as the company’s creative director.

The film will also star Academy Award-winner F. Murray Abraham as C.W. Longbottom, Danny Pudi as Brad, Imani Hakim as Dana, Charlotte Nicdao as Poppy, David Hornsby as David, Ashly Burch as Rachel and Jessie Ennis as Jo.

Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet is executive produced by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia duo Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day through their RCG banner. It is a co-production by Lionsgate, 3 Arts Entertainment and Ubisoft. It is also executive produced by Ganz along with 3 Arts’ Michael Rotenberg and Nicholas Frenkel; and Ubisoft’s Jason Altman, Danielle Kreinik, and Gérard Guillemot.

All nine episodes of the comedy will be available for streaming on Friday, February 7.
