Tyler Perry’s Bruh Trailer & Premiere Date Released for BET+ Series

Tyler Perry’s new series Bruh is set to premiere on May 7 on BET+, according to Deadline, with the first three episodes of the 24-episode season launching together with new episodes dropping weekly thereafter. You can check out the trailer for Bruh below!

“Bruh,” a slang term made popular by Black-Greek culture, refers to a friend so close they are more like a brother. The dramedy follows four longtime friends, now in their 30s, as they navigate life and relationships through the strength of their brother-like bond. The series depicts a healthy image of black brotherhood while tackling some stereotypes faced by men of color.

The official synopsis for the new series reads: “For John, Tom, Mike, and Bill, no expression could characterize their camaraderie more accurately. Whether fulfilling career dreams or finding love, these four college buddies now in their thirties find themselves learning to stand on their own two feet, while leaning on each other for support and guidance. Sometimes their love is tough and their honesty brutal, but they manage to see each other through every scenario with levity and laughter.”

Barry Brewer stars as Jonathan “John” Watts, Mahdi Cocci as Tom Brooks, Phillip Mullings Jr as Mike Alexander and Monti Washington as Bill Frazier. Additional cast includes Chandra Currelley as Alice Watts (John’s mother), Candice Renée as Regina (the ex-girlfriend that Bill wants back), and Alyssa Goss as Pamela (a casual girlfriend of Mike).

Bruh is executive produced, written, and directed by Perry. Michelle Sneed serves as executive producer for Tyler Perry Studios.

Ryan Murphy teases key returning character in American Horror Story

Not many details are currently known about the upcoming tenth season of Ryan Murphy’s hit horror anthology American Horror Story, but the Emmy-winning showrunner/creator took to Instagram to tease the return of Murder House’s mysterious Rubber Man!

Coming soon…

A post shared by Ryan Murphy (@mrrpmurphy) on

In addition to sharing the AHS teaser, Ryan Murphy opened up in an interview with Collider about the long-awaited third season of his Emmy-winning true crime anthology, American Crime Story: Impeachment, revealing he’s “very excited” to delve into Monica Lewinsky’s side of the notorious scandal and believing “she’s earned the right to be able to tell her story, how she wants to tell it.”

It’s very similar to what happened when we did OJ with Marcia Clark,” Murphy explained. “You forget how vilified and misunderstood Marcia Clark was, and I feel the same way about Monica. That she’s not been treated fairly, and that she is a cultural figure who literally deserves her day in court and in this show she will get it. The scripts are fantastic. Slow and steady wins the race with that one. We’re in no rush to make them. We just want them to be good. The show has a very strong beating social heart. You got to get it right. It can’t just be an exploitation about something. So figuring out the writing and how to do that, and then the casting of it always takes forever. It took me a year to cast Versace. It took me a year and a half to cast this.

American Horror Story Season 10 will be led by series alums stars Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, and Finn Wittrock. It will also feature new cast member Macaulay Culkin (Home Alone), which will mark his first major TV role since appearing as a guest-star in last year’s Hulu comedy series Dollface.

Details on the latest installment of the anthology horror series are being kept under wraps, though the video Murphy shared could possibly be full of clues for the upcoming season. Orville Peck’s “Dead of Night” plays over a dark, overcast beach scene as the cast list fades in and out.

Last Season 9, titled AHS: 1984, was set in the summer of 1984, five friends escape Los Angeles to work as counselors at Camp Redwood. As they adjust to their new jobs, they quickly learn that the only thing scarier than campfire tales is the past coming to haunt you.

It starred series alums Emma Roberts, Cody Fern, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, and John Carroll Lynch along with new cast members Olympic gold medalist Gus Kenworthy, Zach Villa (Destroyer), and DeRon Horton (Dear White People). Glee vet Matthew Morrison and Pose star Angelica Ross, who have both worked with Murphy’s other shows, also appeared last season.

FX reports that the series’ total audience is over 1 billion total viewers across its 103 episodes and nine seasons. American Horror Story, which has featured stars Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Billie Lourd, Jessica Lange, Emma Roberts, Taissa Farmiga, Lady Gaga, Angela Bassett, Dylan McDermott, Connie Britton, and many more during its run, has received 95 Emmy nominations and won 16 times, as well as two Golden Globe awards.

Dark and Hilarious Trailer for Netflix’s DEAD TO ME Season 2 Sees Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini Begin to Unravel

Screenshot (235).png

We’ve got a trailer to share for the fast approaching second season of the Netflix’s dark comedy/drama Dead To Me. The series stars Christina Applegate (Married With Children, Bad Moms) in her best role to date, in my opinion, as grieving widow and mother, Jen Harding, who has unconventional means of dealing with her grief as she attempts to unravel the mystery that took her husband’s life. Linda Cardellini (Bloodline, Green Book) plays Judy Hale, a kind but tortured woman with a past that haunts her.

I won’t get into where the first season left off, because it’s majorly spoilery, but just know the series is fantastic, and you should absolutely catch up before watching season 2.

Check out the trailer for the second season below, and watch new episodes of Dead To Me on Netflix on May 8th.

Russo Brothers Hosting Endgame Live Tweet Rewatch to Celebrate One-Year Anniversary

Russo Brothers Hosting Endgame Live Tweet Rewatch to Celebrate One-Year Anniversary

One year ago saw the release of Avengers: Endgame, one of the most anticipated films of all time. The Marvel production went on to become the biggest film of all time and stands as one of the great crowd-pleasers in recent memory. To celebrate the anniversary, the Russo Brothers will be doing a tweet-along rewatch today at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET with possible special guests joining them. Check out the announcement post below!

Additionally, while talking to Deadline to promote the action extravaganza Extraction, directors Joe and Anthony Russo looked back on Endgame and revealed that they actually snuck into a theater to secretly watch the film with a packed crowd.

“My most treasured memory is when Ant and I, Kevin Feige, Markus & McFeely and Lou D’Esposito snuck into the Westwood Theater on opening night to watch it with an audience,” Joe said. “I’ve never had an experience like that in a movie theater, where an audience was that viscerally and emotionally connected to what was going on, vocalizing and emoting the way they were.

“We had chills all around and were brought to tears once or twice, realizing you told a story that had such binding communal impact. It was something we’ll never forget.”

There are a number of sequences in the film that brought the house down, including the big moment where Captain America wields Thor’s hammer; not to mention the “On your left …” bit that still induces chills even on the small screen.

Anthony added, “To be in a movie theater that feels like a rock arena, I never imagined it and to be part of that energy and see the crowds experience the movie in that way with that fervor, sharing it together and feeding one another. That was something I never anticipated and to see it happen on that movie.”

“It keeps you humbled because you don’t know where art is going to take you or where movies take us,” the filmmaker continued. “It was nice to be part of that moment.”

Avengers: Endgame is now officially the highest-grossing film of all time, dethroning Avatar with a $2.8 billion gross worldwide. It had also shattered records when it opened day-and-date April 26 with $1,223.6M globally, including $357.1M and $866.5M internationally. It crossed the $1B mark in just 5 days and the $2B mark in 11. Currently, the film is the #1 domestic and international release of all time, with just under $1 billion and $2 billion respectively. It’s the #1 release of all time in 25 territories, and the #3 highest-grossing film of all time in China with $629M.

Ewan McGregor Almost Starred in a SILVER SURFER Movie in 1997 and Here’s Some Storyboard Art

ewan-mcgregor-almost-starred-in-a-silver-surfer-movie-in-1997-and-heres-some-storyboard-art-social.jpg

You may or may not already know this, but there was a Silver Surfer movie in development in 1997 and it was going to be directed by Geoffrey Wright (Romper Stomper, Cherry Falls). Ewan McGregor was also wanted for the role of the Silver Surfer, and Steven Berkoff was set to play Galactus, but it never quite came together and ended up being scrapped.

We now have some storyboard art to share with you for this unmade film. It comes from artist Gabriel Hardman, who revealed the above information about the movie. He also added that the movie would have focused more on Silver Surfer’s human form since VFX at the time would have been too expensive.

The art offers us an idea of what they were going for with the film and shows us what Silver Surfer might have looked like.

I can’t help but be curious about how this movie might have turned out. But, Silver Surfer wouldn’t make his big-screen debut until 2007’s Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Doug Jones was supposed to reprise his role in a sequel, but that sequel never happened.

Now that the rights to Silver Surfer are back with Marvel, we are going to have to wait a bit before we see what they have planned. In the meantime, enjoy this storyboard art of what could have been.
