YU-GI-OH! Releases STRUCTURE DECK: FREEZING CHAINS and It’s Cold

Konami released Structure Deck: Freezing Chains for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG this last weekend. I’m not going to sugar coat it. It’s not the best structure deck. That being said, I don’t think it’s the worst one either even if it is pretty bad. It’s just a shame that there wasn’t a big staple card in the TCG version to help draw in sales. In the OCG they had Crossout Designator and I can appreciate the TCG not wanting to use a structure deck to release that card, I wish the replacement was of a similar caliber. There are some new cards for the Ice Barrier archetype, so that’s good. Also, why is Dupe Frog in this deck? It has no valid targets and is just a level 2 Water Aqua. That and Ronintoadin are just so random. This deck revolves around Synchro Summoning, so let’s throw in a monster that can’t be used for Synchro Summons. That’s a great idea. Maybe if there had been Fusion, XYZ, or Link monsters in the deck, but it’s all Synchros.

I think the concept and art for Ice Barrier is pretty cool. Plus, you have Trishula and now a bigger Trishula, so that’s awesome. It’s just a shame that this structure deck didn’t provide more oomph for the strategy.

The upcoming sequel is also set to bring back most of its creative team and will feature new cast members including Elijah Richardson (When They See Us) as the new romantic lead, and Michael Penn, who is also set to write and perform original music for the film. Sources report that Greer has signed on to star as Ana, the titular protagonist’s mother who is moving with her to Los Angeles as she goes to work on a film.

The first film’s co-writer Kirsten Hahn will return as an executive producer along with Jerry Spinelli. Original producers Jordan Horowitz, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, and Lee Stollman are again set to produce. Further casting for the film, which is to be loosely based on the novel sequel Love, Stargirl, is currently underway.

Based on author Jerry Spinelli’s coming-of-age novel of the same name, Stargirl was a tender and offbeat coming-of-age story based on the critically-acclaimed, New York Times’ best-selling young adult novel about an unassuming high schooler who finds himself inexplicably drawn to the free-spirited new girl, whose unconventional ways change how they see themselves…and their world.

Guy Ritchie to Write and Direct World War II Film MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE at Paramount

Guy-Ritchie.jpg

Guy Ritchie, known for his films Snatch and The Gentlemen, has joined the World War II film Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare at Paramount as writer and director. The story is based on the book Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: How Churchill’s Secret Warriors Set Europe Ablaze and Gave Birth to Modern Black Ops by Damien Lewis, and was acquired by the studio when the book was released back in 2015.

Deadline provides the following synopsis:

This tale takes place in 1939, when the Brits were being pounded by Germany in mainland Europe, and Winston Churchill wanted to hit back hard. His answer: Stop fighting under accepted gentlemanly rules of engagement and create a group of warriors who became the first “deniable” secret operatives to strike behind enemy lines. They were basically Britain’s first black ops unit. Members were recruited, knowing they were likely to be killed. They became a very tightknit group, and their work spanned WWII. They won important victories against the Nazis, breaking all the accepted rules of warfare in the process and using deception and even the bow and arrow to dispatch the enemy.

This sounds like a perfect action flick for Ritchie to take on, with plenty of interesting characters for him to build on. Are you a fan of Ritchie’s filmmaking style?

Based on the Black List script from Emma Needell, the film sees Gunner set out on a quest to save his ill mother by searching for a mythic figure who possesses the secret to immortality, the Water Man. After enlisting the help of a mysterious local girl, Jo, they journey together into the remote Wild Horse forest — but the deeper they venture, the stranger and more dangerous the forest becomes. Their only hope for rescue is Gunner’s father, who will stop at nothing to find them and in the process will discover who his son really is.

Trailer for FX’s MAYANS M.C. Season 3 – “One Wrong Move Could Start a War”

FX has released a trailer for the third season of Mayans M.C., which is a spinoff of Sons of Anarchy. I enjoyed the first two seasons of this show, but it seems like it’s been forever since Season 2 came to an end. The last episode we saw aired back in November of 2019. It’s good to know that Season 3 is actually coming!

Mayans M.C. follows the life of Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes, “a newly patched member of the Mayans M.C. charter on the Cali/Mexi border. Once the golden boy with the American Dream in his grasp, EZ and his brother Angel are closer than ever after uncovering the truth behind their mother’s murder while their father Felipe struggles to reconcile the choices he and his sons have made.”

The tag line for Season 3 reads “One wrong move could start a war.” Mayans M.C. is set to return on March 16th.

Tom Holland Shares How He Describes His UNCHARTED Movie

tom-holland-shares-how-he-describes-his-uncharted-movie.jpg

Tom Holland’s upcoming Uncharted film has completed shooting and is currently in the post-production process under the direction of Ruben Fleischer (Venom).

Tom Holland takes on the role of young Nathan Drake while Mark Wahlberg is taking on the role of his mentor Sully. Holland recently appeared on the Little Gold Men podcast, where the show’s host was unfamiliar with the Uncharted video games. So, the actor came up with a simple way to explain who Nathan Drake is and the kind of film it will be, saying:

I think the easiest way to describe the film without belittling it in any way is like if Indiana Jones and James Bond had had a baby, it would be Nathan Drake. That is the way I keep describing the film.

With someone who’s not familiar with the Uncharted franchise, it’d be funny if his response was, “who are Indiana Jones and James Bond?” With Holland previously admitting he’s never seen The Empire Strikes Back, it makes me wonder if he’s even ever seen any Indiana Jones or older James Bond films!

Regardless, I would love nothing more than for this film to be good, but I’m not buying into the direction they are taking it. The movie is set to tell the story of a young Nathan Drake before he becomes the badass treasure hunter from the game. Nathan Drake is known for his adventures across the world as he uncovers various historical mysteries. Sully is his mentor.

When previously talking about the film, Holland said that it is one of the best scripts he’s ever read:

“I think what Uncharted offers that most video games films don’t is that it’s an origin story to the games. So if you played the games, you haven’t seen what’s going to happen in the film. And if you haven’t played the games, you’re going to enjoy the film because it’s information that everyone else is getting at the same time. But I’m super excited to make that movie and it’s been a long time coming.

“I read the newest draft of the script on the way over here and it’s one of the best scripts I’ve ever read. It really, really jumps off the page.”

Art Marcum and Matt Holloway wrote the most recent draft of the script. The film also stars Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali, and The 100 actor Tati Gabrielle. The Uncharted movie hits theaters on July 16th, 2021.
